Game of Thrones

Bran

This chapter is about Bran, a seven year old who traveling with his father, brothers, and a few others to witness an execution of a man by Ned, his father and king of Winterfell for the first time. The man was beheaded because he was a deserter which meant that he was an oath breaker and very dangerous. On the way back to Winterfell there was discussion between Bran and his father Ned about the man and why he had to kill him when Bran's bastard brother Jon started shouting for them to come see what their brother Robb had found. A dead direwolf and her still living pups is what they found. Everyone was amazed and may be frightened because a direwolf hasn't been sighted south of the wall in about two hundred years. Bran and his brother wanted to keep the pups but their father and a few others didn't think is would be a good idea because they are so dangerous. In the end Jon convinced his father and the other to let them keep the pups by saying there are three male and two female pups, five in all like Ned's true born children excluding him. Bran also agreed that he would raise and train his pup right because if not, they could kill a man in seconds. An albino one was found later that would become Jon's.

I choose this chapter because it was the most interesting out of what we read so far. What made it interesting to me was that in this story a seven year old seeing a man being killed for the first time is normal because one day he will be doing the same thing. The other young men did not even seem a little sad or weirded out at seeing a headless man because they were already use to seeing these kinds of things. What I liked most was how Jon helped his younger brother Bran in convincing their father to let them keep the pups even though he wouldn't have one for his own. Afterwards he found another pup that had strayed away, this pup was different from his brothers like Jon was with his and he ended up keeping him which was perfect. This chapter leads to Catelyn's story, Ned's wife and the sad news she has to tell him. Ned always go to the godswood, an old quiet forest, after he takes a man's life which is where Catelyn will meet him. What she tells him will lead to unexpected events.

  1. So you do a great job on the summary Azalia, but that summary pretty much continues into your analytical section. Instead, focusing on the themes or ideas presented and what makes them interesting. They execute a guy, that is nuts! Is it justified, why is it told from Bran's perspective?
