Game of Thrones-Dany(Danenerys)
Danenerys' chapter was all about her getting ready to meet Khal Drogo (who she doesn't meet until the next chapter of her on page 99), and its setting is in the house of the magister Illyrio. In the beginning of this section, it shows the relationship between Dany and her brother Viserys. This chapter also lays out the background of their life after their father was killed; it described how they had moved from houses to houses finding shelter and gaining riches, and then leaving each house after a period of time. The rest of this section includes her at the party examining all of the people there, and further develops the type of relationship with her brother in a small portion.
First off, I would like to say that I'm enjoying the book surprisingly. This book genre is not usually my cup of tea, but for some reason it appeals to me. In Danenerys' chapter I noticed a couple themes, but the only one that I could think of for specifically this chapter would have to be the treatment towards women: Danenery is treated poorly by Viserys. Here are two examples from the reading, "'You will not fail me tonight. If you do, it will go hard for you. You don't want to wake the dragon, do you?" His his fingers twisted her, the pinch cruelly hard through the rough fabric of her tunic. "Do you?" he repeated, " and "'I'd let his whole khalasar army fuck you if need be, sweet sister, all forty thousand men , and their horses too if that is what it took to get my army. Be grateful it is only Drogo." Both these quotes show that he has a power over her, and I think it's because he's her brother, and for that I can't stand him even more. So far, he's the character I hate most, I think. The reason I picked this chapter is because I really love Dany's character because she doesn't seem to care about riches or glory, however, I do love the Stark family a lot (Jon included). Overall, I enjoyed this chapter of her because it showed the beginning of her character, and I can't wait to see how her character continues to build throughout the book.
